| Tucked away in a charming historic neighborhood at 1718 Hampton Street in downtown Columbia, Chesnut Cottage is the perfect place for honeymoon or anniversary couples, visitors to nearby University of South Carolina, history or antique buffs and business travelers. The Chesnut Cottage, circa 1850, is one of the most historically significant homes in the Southeast. During the war between the states, it was the home of General James and Mary Boykin Chesnut. In addition, President Jefferson Davis visited the Chestnut and gave a speech to the citizens of Columbia from the front porch of the Cottage. Guests at Chesnut Cottage may choose from one of five beautiful rooms, each with it's own unique personality. |
