Breakfast can be as formal or informal as you like. We'll serve you outside in the Jasmine Garden. Or, if you prefer, you may join us for a lively breakfast in the family dining room.
Aline shows off her special French recipes along with more traditional breakfast cuisine for breakfast. Enjoy a second cup of tea or coffee on the front porch or in the Jasmine Garden as you get ready for the day ahead.
Try the Coburn Crustless Quiche for a healthy, flavorful morning treat with a good cup of tea or freshly brewed coffee. The White Camellia Crepe is not only nutritious; it's fun to make. (The recipes are on our website!)
In winter, try the the eastern European-style homemade white cheese (recipe from our good friends Alla and Sergey) for a really special breakfast.
With advance notice Aline and Matthew will do their utmost to accommodate special dietary needs.

| Innkeepers |
Aline ( the "Al" is pronounced as the first part of Allan and "ine" rhymes with lean) and Matthew Shulman recently chose Williamston-on-the-Roanoke to carve out new lives for themselves as innkeepers. Their choice seems natural.
With their own experiences shaped by river and lakefront communities in Africa, Europe and North America, Aline and Matthew have a global perspective on the culture and heritage of this river and farm community in northeastern North Carolina.
Aline, an American citizen of French origin, has worked in a photography studio, taught French and English in France and the USA, co-owned/ published a weekly community newspaper, The Lansing Community News and even owned a taxi company in Ithaca, New York! And she's a great cook!
Matthew has over 35 years in domestic & overseas rural experience working with health, agriculture, pre-disaster mitigation, housing and economic development projects.
Matthew taught English and set up exchange programs for the French Ministry of Agriculture’s Maison Familiale Rurale and was a World Bank consultant at the Nigerian Department of Rural Development's federal Agricultural Coordinating Unit in Ibadan (Oyo State) and Yola (Gongola State).
Wow! And that's just a little about them! You'll find Aline and Matthew both open to conservation and respectful of your privacy. They'll be busy in the background working to make your stay here one you won't forget!
